How we got started…
Green Tree took root in the Highlands of Scotland in 2009, purely as a wholesale business supplying eco-friendly cleaning products to many small businesses across the Highlands. We then expanded our product range and began trading online. As more and more boxes began to arrive, the need for commercial premises beckoned. In a very chilly December 2010, and with very few shopping days left ‘til Christmas, we opened a shop in the picturesque Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer.
After three very successful years in the village, and although sad to have said goodbye to Strathpeffer, we're extremely excited to have new premises in our home village of Fortrose, on the bonnie Black Isle - just a short walk from Chanonry Point where you can encounter the famous Moray Firth dolphins.
You can find us at 32 High Street, Fortrose - just in front of the ruins of Fortrose Cathedral.
We have a large selection of cards, gifts and stationery. Within our gift shop we also have a Post Office counter.
Please see the 'Contact Us' page for our hours of business.
What we do…
Wherever possible we offer a range of carefully-considered products which are kinder and gentler for you and the environment.
Recycling, eco-friendliness, sustainability, natural ingredients, wildlife and fair trade are all pivotal to how we do business. We also carry a small selection of products which are educational in nature and encourage an interest in wildlife and the environment.
To complement the eco-friendly product lines, we have a lovely range of giftware - much of it hand-crafted in Scotland and inspired by the stunning landscapes and seascapes which we’re lucky enough to have in abundance. As well as supporting UK artisans, we also endeavour to source as much as possible from UK manufacturers in order to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum.
As dedicated supporters of wildlife conservation charity Orangutan Protection Foundation (OPF), we don’t and won’t sell products which contain palm oil or palm oil derivatives unless the oil has reliably come from a sustainable source.
We’re careful to establish that any products we sell are not derived from bad practices.
Paper products used are 100% recycled and we re-use or recycle packaging materials from our stock deliveries.
